Limited spaces are available so don't leave it too late!
Over the past 5 years, after educating over 1000+ students, we have reflected on what matters most for our students' success.
Through doing this, we have developed our 3-Pillar Strategy which has helped our students make progress faster than ever.
The strategy is simple - identify the 3 most important factors that contribute to students' success and embed these into our entire process - making them a priority.
So what are the 3 pillars that shape our tuition service?
We use assessment & feedback to highlight our students' weaknesses.
Our students can then focus their time and effort towards the areas that need it the most, making their study time more efficient, allowing for much faster progress.
We use a mix of in-class work, small homework tasks and formal assessments.
Self-regulation is essentially a student's ability to study independently.
We recognise that students will spend most of their study time outside of the classroom, so there is a need to improve their independence.
Ultimately we train our students to be able to manage their targets, time, resources and wellbeing effectively. So, when they step up to A-Levels or university, they're ready for that more independent work!
We use guided reflective tasks, with modelling and proformas, to help students improve their ability to reflect on their processes, set targets and manage their time and resources to meet those targets. Our coaches review students' reflective logs and hold students accountable, offering continuous support where needed.
Having the knowledge is only part of the mission...
Our students must be able to:
Apply their knowledge
to unfamiliar contexts.
Interpret exam questions
to understand what the question is asking for.
Understand mark schemes
to put together answers that maximise the number of marks awarded, leaving no marks on the table.
Exam questions are integrated into every lesson, allowing our students to practice their exam skills throughout the entirety of their tuition and not just in the run up to exams!
This service is fantastic for reducing the friction to study. Stuck with a concept your revising? Ask our tutors so you don't need to wait until the next lesson!
The best part of all is that our support stacks up. Every time we answer a student's question (either through message or recorded video), we make this resource available to all students in the community. So, every time we support one student, all of our students get the benefits!
And the more time that goes by, the more valuable our resource base becomes! ๐ช
Students can search for resources using key words related to their problem, making support easier to find.
Our study videos are recorded by experienced teachers in the format of how tuition lessons would be carried out.
This means short segments of knowledge delivery / modelling skills followed by independent practice and marking.
An example video is shown below:
Hi, my name is Jacob ๐
I've been a chemistry teacher / tutor for the past 5 years teaching chemistry to ages 11-18.
I have educated 1000+ students both in the classroom and online.
I have inspired many students to select chemistry for their A-levels, and have helped many students secure a space on their first-choice course at university.
As both a teacher and tutor, I recognise the significance that tuition can play into a child's academic journey - in many cases it can be transformative. I have seen many students come to me with unrecognised potential. For example...
Archi started tuition with a grade 5 and left with a 9 ๐
Dhiren started with a C and left with an A ๐ฏ
Dylan started with a 3 and left with an 8 ๐ฅ
These aren't just small jumps... they're complete transformations in confidence and ambition for their academic future!
I can tell you there's no feeling more rewarding than seeing your student go through that transformation and THAT is why I started Studology.
It's because I want to scale this impact across the UK! ๐ฌ๐ง
Studology aims to approach tuition differently. Rather than trading our time for money, like what many tutors do, we aim to build an ever-growing community, resource base and all-week support system to provide top-class support that focuses on the result.
We want our students, and their parents, to know that there's genuine support there.
That we don't just tutor for the hour, take the money and disappear for the rest of the week!
This really depends on the duration of your child's tuition (how long they've studied with us) and how hard they've worked.
Generally, most of our students have made a grade jump of 1 or 2 grades. However, we do have students that have made much more progress.
Check out our testimonial videos above to see for yourself and hear about how our students benefited from our tuition.
Most tutors do their job as a side-hustle, selling an hour of their time to you each week.
The problem here is that there's no support outside of those lessons - you're only getting that hour! And the lesson isn't even recorded for replay!
We wanted to make a service that gives students:
Continuous 1:1 tutor support throughout the week
An ever-growing bank of concise study videos to provide additional asynchronous tuition sessions
A private community of hard-working, motivated students to create a supportive environment
Access to all lesson recordings and materials
So what makes us different? We don't sell our time to you. We provide an overall support service that focuses on securing the result!
All tutors are trained teachers with 3+ years experience minimum. This means all tutors have at least a QTS Certificate and a degree.
All tutors have been DBS checked, have passed a rigorous recruitment process and undergo training to maintain high standards.
We use a platform called Circle to host our private community, study hub and 1:1 support channel all in one place. This keeps things simple.
Feedback on progress is usually communicated in the 1:1 support channel, where both the student and parents have simultaneous access.
However, if you prefer Whatsapp communication, we can contact parents via Whatsapp to provide feedback.
Please note that we do not collect students' mobile numbers, so we do not allow Whatsapp groups with the student in. Direct contact to parents only.
Absolutely! We wouldn't want your child to study with us unless they're happy and comfortable with our service.
We don't offer a free trial lesson because experiencing only 1 lesson will not allow your child to experience our overall support service (such as the support channel, study hub and private community).
We do provide an initial trial month which is set to a reduced rate. This makes more sense to us because your child has enough time to experience our service and decide if it is right for them, without being tied into 3-month blocks or having to pay the full fee.
If you'd prefer a free trial lesson, we can offer this to you but we wouldn't then offer a reduced-fee trial month.
In our opinion, the trial month makes way more sense!
It is imperative to us that each group is limited to 6 students maximum.
This keeps our groups small and focussed, allowing our tutors to review all students' work closely and provide high quality feedback.
Note: our groups typically have less students than 6, as we try to spread students out between groups wherever we can.
Students are grouped by year group and ability. We use whatever information we have to initially allocate your child to a group.
Over time, if we find that your child should move to a different ability group, we will let you know.
Our tutors are fully-trained teachers who have the ability to differentiate for multiple abilities, so even if your child isn't in the perfect ability group at first, it will not affect the quality of their tuition!
Plus, our in-session assessments contain a wide range of difficulty that spans various grades anyway!
All lessons are recorded. Our students have access to the lesson recordings and materials, so they don't miss out on their learning.
If they have a question about the lesson, they can ask for support at anytime throughout the week.
What's better? Students can post a question about the lesson at the exact timestamp of the lesson recording and this will flag a notification to our tutors, allowing them to respond to the question knowing exactly what part the student is asking about!
Because of our fantastic catch-up support systems, we don't refund for any unattended lessons.
It wouldn't be fair on us to refund you for a lesson if your child has complete access to the recording, materials and post-lesson support!
